Bright Path pairs middle and high schoolers facing unstable housing or family disruption with adult mentors who complete an eight-week training in crisis de-escalation, mandatory reporting, and how to actually earn a teenager's trust. Consistency is the whole model, so nearly every dollar goes to keeping mentors trained, background-checked, and paid - not cycling through volunteers who vanish after a semester. Demand has outpaced us: 34 kids are currently waiting for a match, more than double last year, which is exactly why every newly trained mentor gets paired within weeks, not months.

34 kids waiting for a match - our longest list yet
It's a good problem and a real one: 34 kids are currently waiting for a mentor match, more than double where we sat this time last year. Word is clearly getting around faster than our training pipeline can keep up with - if you know someone who'd be a steady, patient adult for a teenager who needs one, point them at our mentor application.

Six new mentors, eight weeks of training, done
Six mentors finished the full eight-week training and background-check process this week and start getting matched with students next month. The training covers more than most people expect - crisis de-escalation, mandatory reporting, and the slower work of earning trust from a teenager who's already been let down by adults.
