Blue Fin runs a working dive team, not just a cleanup crew - 14 restoration dives this year alone, replanting coral fragments across three damaged reef sections and logging water temperature at every site, since heat stress is the single biggest predictor of whether a fragment survives. Reef Guardian and Deep Blue supporters fund the equipment and lab time directly, and get the unedited dive log - temperature readings included - before anything is cut into a public post. Water is finally cooling off from peak summer heat, which means dive 15 next week has real odds of being our best fragment-survival numbers yet.

First real drop in water temp since early summer
Surface temperature finally dropped for the first time since early summer - good news specifically for the fragments we planted in June, since survival rates climb noticeably once we're clear of peak heat stress. Dive 15 is scheduled for next week, and if the cooling trend holds, it could be our best fragment-survival numbers yet.

Dive 14: our clearest water of the season
Fourteen restoration dives logged this year, and today's was spent replanting coral fragments across the third of our three damaged reef sections. Visibility was the best we've had all season, which meant real documentation instead of murky guesswork - photos from the dive are up on our page now.
